About Us

Who We Are & What We Do
The Brain Injury Association of America – Kentucky Chapter is a direct link of the national organization to the Brain Injury Community of Kentucky.  We are volunteers who are driven to achieve our organization’s vision, that is, “Everyone in the Commonwealth of Kentucky who sustains a brain injury is diagnosed, treated and accepted”.  We all have vested interest in the well-being of Kentucky’s Brain Injury Community as we are survivors of brain injury, caregivers of survivors, and professionals providing services to our Community.  We welcome all interested citizens of Kentucky to join us in this volunteer effort toward excellence and inclusion.

BIAA-KY

Support-Education-Advocacy
Our mission is to advance awareness, research, treatment and education, and to improve the quality of life for all people affected by brain injury.  We achieve this mission by supporting those who are experiencing first hand the challenges of life with brain injury.  Support comes in multiple forms including one-on-one guidance and connection to supportive resources.  Some people prefer direct connection with other individuals experiencing the brain injury journey while others may prefer consuming resource materials made available online.  We cater to a variety of preferences.  Watch this website for ongoing additions of webinars and course announcements.  Our volunteers have combed the available brain injury educational materials relevant to survivors, caregivers and professionals.

Advocacy for the Brain Injury Community’s legislative and policy agenda is of prime importance to the BIAA – Kentucky Chapter.  Our volunteers are engaged in policy and legislative initiatives at the state and federal level.  We will keep Kentuckians abreast of important updates affecting the well-being of our Community.

Meet our team

The needs of individuals with brain injury and their families has been a passion and life mission that I have worked and advocated for over the last 30 years ever since my brother, David suffered a brain injury in 1991 and my sister, Theresa in 2006.
